Nero's Niteclub Resurrection
"Portstewart fiddled while Nero's Burned.... (and was turned into a Baptist Church)"
It was the end of an era when they closed down Nero's Nightclub in Portstwart, no more students nights with 3 bottles of "Woodys" or "Barrick Busters" of "Old English"
Even if the powers that be deem it necessary to close down one of the few remaining places of interest in Portstewart, why a church? Speaking as someone who used to work in Nero's I can tell you that it is very odd considering some of the activities which took place there on the average night, to consider it to know be "Holy Ground" of any sort.
But what it has now become is irrelevant, the point which it would appear the community in the port is missing, is that Portstewart is fast becoming starved for any form of life outside the front door!
Nero's Nightclub (inc Nelly's Bar and the Rock Cafe) is the latest in a long line of veterans to be cast aside by locals, which have included Spuds, The Strand Hotel, The Seasplash and The Edgewater Hotel.
